The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is planning to increase the public appearances of the spouses of its top leaders who are in jail, sources told India Today TV. The party is planning this strategy to create an emotional appeal for its leaders among voters ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has already delivered two messages from her husband’s chair after he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21.

According to AAP sources, not just Sunita Kejriwal, the public appearance of the wives of two other jailed AAP leaders — Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain — could be initiated in the coming days.

Seema Sisodia, wife of former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, and Poonam Jain, wife of former Health Minister Satyendar Jain, have remained away from public life so far.

Seema Sisodia — who is fighting a rare ailment — had shared heartfelt notes after her husband’s arrest in 2023 and was seen meeting students of Delhi government schools.

However, she stayed away from any political rallies or press conferences against Sisodia’s arrest.

Even AAP MP Sanjay Singh’s wife Anita Singh could be roped in under the new strategy, AAP sources told India Today TV.

Unlike the other three, Anita Singh has remained politically vocal about her husband’s dharnas in Parliament and his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate. She also runs the X account of Sanjay Singh as he continues to remain behind bars in the liquor policy case.

According to AAP sources, it is being explored what could be the best way to increase the presence of the jailed leaders’ spouses in the public domain — whether to call a public rally at the Ramleela Ground, get video messages issued by them or hold joint press conferences.
