The Tamil Nadu BJP on Wednesday accused DMK MP Kathir Anand of using derogatory statements against women during a campaign event in Vellore.

Anand allegedly made remarks suggesting that women’s faces were shining due to the use of fairness cream and powder, questioning if they had received Rs 1,000.

“I can see most faces of women are shining. Looks like you have applied Fair and Lovely fairness cream and Ponds powder. Did you already get Rs 1,000?,” asked Kathir Anand while addressing the public in Vellore.

The BJP shared the video on social media platform X, criticising the DMK for its alleged disrespect towards women and questioning if Kanimozhi would condemn the remarks.

The Rs 1,000 per month scheme for women homemakers in the state, is touted as a success of Chief Minister MK Stalin’s Dravidian model. Stalin also expressed plans to implement it nationwide if the INDIA bloc is brought to power.
