An elderly woman was thrashed by her grandson and his wife in Bhopal. The couple was arrested after a video of the incident went viral on social media platforms.
The accused allegedly thrashed the elderly woman as they did not like the food prepared by her.
The distressing footage shows a man and a woman mercilessly assaulting an elderly woman, who has been identified as the man’s grandmother. The video shows the man with his arms around the elderly woman’s neck, while one of his hands is on her mouth to muffle her scream.
Another woman, who is seen sitting on a bed, assaults the elderly relentlessly with a stick.
The video was recorded by their neighbours. India Today is not showing the video due to its extremely graphic content.
The accused have been identified as Deepak Sen and his wife, Pooja Sen. Deepak Sen runs a salon in the Barkhedi area of Bhopal. Following the circulation of the video, the couple attempted to flee Bhopal, heading towards Jhansi, but were intercepted and arrested by the police en route.
The accused were brought to Bhopal and further investigation in the case is underway.
